ABC Eyewitness News: A new day care and early learning center is opening in southeast Rockford — ABC Eyewitness News (WQRF) on Facebook — February 2026
When Rockford Daycare & Academy opened its doors in February 2026, the story spread quickly across Rockford's local television landscape. Two of the region's major TV news stations — [13 WREX](https://www.facebook.com/13wrex/posts/icymi-rockford-daycare-academy-celebrated-its-grand-opening-providing-critical-c/1365021305671574/) (Rockford's CBS affiliate) and [ABC Eyewitness News](https://www.facebook.com/MyEyewitnessNews/posts/a-new-day-care-and-early-learning-center-is-opening-in-southeast-rockford-with-a/1368901171940492/) — both shared coverage of the grand opening on their social media channels, collectively reaching tens of thousands of Rockford-area residents.
WREX-TV: "Providing Critical Childcare to Rockford"
13 WREX shared coverage of the academy's grand opening on its Facebook page, framing the story around a theme that resonated with the station's audience: access to quality childcare as a critical community need. The post highlighted the academy's focus on providing what WREX described as "critical childcare" — underscoring the gap left by the 2024 closure of the former Rockford Day Nursery and the importance of Rockford Daycare & Academy filling that void for southeast Rockford families.
ABC Eyewitness News: A New Learning Center for Southeast Rockford
ABC Eyewitness News (WQRF) framed their social media coverage around the academy's distinctive educational mission — not just childcare, but an "early learning center" with a specific focus on kindergarten readiness. Their post highlighted the significance of a new childcare option opening in southeast Rockford, a part of the city that had been underserved since the Rockford Day Nursery's abrupt closure.
The coverage emphasized that Bryan and Amanda Amezquita weren't just filling a building — they were bringing a new kind of educational philosophy to their community, rooted in 15 years of experience in Rockford's own public school system.
Why Multi-Station Coverage Matters
Having all four of Rockford's major TV news operations — WTVO (NBC), WREX (CBS), ABC Eyewitness News, and Fox affiliate — cover the same story is rare for a new small business opening. It speaks to the genuine community significance of what Rockford Daycare & Academy represents: a trusted local answer to one of southeast Rockford's most pressing needs.
